Founded in December 2002, the International Society of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors known as ISBI is a non-profit educational and technical society. The Society was organized for the following purposes:
- To promote international continuing education on boiler and pressure vessel safety.
- To develop standards for design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of boiler and pressure vessel.
- To promote professional licenses of boiler and pressure vessel personnel worldwide, and
- To develop experts in the field of boiler and pressure vessel technology
The ISBI is managed by a board of directors consisting of seven members. An Executive Director is responsible for day-to-day operation of the Society. The ISBI membership comprised of chief inspectors or persons responsible for the boiler and pressure vessel programs of various governmental jurisdictions.
